Marseille marina

Arriving in the afternoon from Lyon, firstly the views of the city from the train station were quite something.

We had the afternoon to look around the harbour, this was wonderfully scenic and the central attraction of the city.

Walking up towards the old castle, the views of the harbour were spectacular, this was a dirty but beautiful city. I wondered about some of the sailing events in this southern French metropolis, we watched a number of yachts and power boats head out from the safety of the harbour through the heads.

The water around Marseille was flat and predictable, there was enough wind to sail, it wasn't blowing at a great rate of knots, enough to get you moving through the water though.
